Mai Chau is a small town about 3.5 hours away from Hanoi. The beautiful landscapes along the way make your journey seem shorter. After 3 hours drive up the mountain, Mai Chau appears in the valley below with its numerous stilthouses surrounded by rice fields and trees.
You will be welcomed by big smiles of the hosts, White Thai people in Pom Coong village who still wear their traditional dress and sport blackened teeth.
Lunch is eaten underneath the stilthouse where they used to raise chickens and cattle.
After lunch, take a bicycle ride through Pom Coong to other neighbouring villages including Van, Chieng Xai, Cha Long etc. The trip will give you a perfect picture of local life, farming, fishing, public showering, entertaining, schooling etc.
Cycle back to the house where dinner will be served by the family with such specialities including crispy deep-fried pork and grill minced beef rolled in Lot leaves.

In the evening, relax with the family in the living room which will also be the bed room. Or you can walk around the village and enjoy the atmosphere.
